I'm incredibly lucky to be married to Amy - an experienced Special Needs headteacher.
We live in Surrey with our three-year-old twin boys, born during the pandemic at the wonderful East Surrey Hospital. We also have a little dog called Chip!
My parents are both Italian, with my dad coming to the UK when he was just 16. My mum is a teaching assistant at a state primary. They taught me the importance of family, the value of hard work, and the power of a good education.
I've been entirely state educated and I'm proud to have been the first member of my family to go to university.
For 15 years I've been a committed community activist, campaigning across the local area as a volunteer and since 2014 as an elected local councillor for Coulsdon. Since 2016 I've been part of the leadership team for the Conservatives on Croydon Council, helping to manage the campaign that successfully delivered a Conservative Mayor in 2022.
My career has seen me working for global brand Heineken and in the City for Virgin Money UK. From November 2017 to June 2019 I supported Prime Minister Theresa May as a Special Adviser in 10 Downing Street - the first adviser to specialise in digital communication. I now work for a business consultancy with a diverse range of clients that have included John Lewis, Waitrose, Budweiser and Aston Martin. You can find my full CV here.
My belief in the potential of our society runs deep. I truly believe that it's only when our communities comes together that we can tackle the complex issues facing our local areas - one that will create an environment that promotes aspiration and helps us all thrive. That's at the core of why I ran to be a Member of Parliament in 2019: to work with everyone to help our community, and our country, to be the best it can be.
If you want to learn how to get involved in shaping our area for the better, then get in touch and I will be more than happy to help point you in the right direction.
Mario is a great supporter of my work on behalf of the government to improve early years support. He is effective at ‘getting things done,’ standing up for social justice and always strives to help the youngest in our society. Mario would make an outstanding Member of Parliament."
- Rt Hon. Dame Andrea Leadsom MP, Former Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy
I first met Mario when I was the Minister for Civil Society and Loneliness. From the start it was clear that he not only cared deeply about building a better community, and country, but that he rolls up his sleeves to help make it happen. He's enthusiastic and proactive - he'd be a brilliant MP."
- Mims Davies MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Work and Pensions.
