Mario was born and grew up in Croydon, south London.
Both his parents are Italian - with his dad coming to the UK on his own when he was just 16 years old. His mum is a Teaching Assistant in a state primary school. His wife Amy is also a teacher, working in a Special Educational Needs school. Mario has been entirely state educated and, with a strong work ethic, is proud to have become the first member of his family to go to university.
Mario and Amy are the doting parents of twin boys, born at East Surrey Hospital in 2020.
For over 10 years Mario has been a committed community activist in his hometown, campaigning across the borough as a volunteer and since 2014 as an elected local councillor. In 2016 Mario was promoted to the leadership team for the Conservatives on Croydon Council.
In his day job Mario has worked at the University of Surrey, in Parliament, for global brand Heineken, and in the city for Virgin Money UK. Until 2019 he supported Prime Minister Theresa May as a Special Adviser in 10 Downing Street. Mario now works for Interel, a leading European Public Affairs Consultancy with a diverse range of clients including John Lewis, Waitrose, Expedia, and Coca-Cola.
Mario's belief in the potential of our society runs deep. He truly believes that it's only when our communities comes together that we can tackle the complex issues facing our local areas - that will create an environment that promotes aspiration and helps us all thrive. That's at the core of why he ran to be a Member of Parliament in 2019: to work with everyone to help our community to be the best it can be.
